Osh Authorities Dismantle Ten Illegal Bridges Over Ak-Buura River
ECNETNews – In a recent municipal operation, ten unauthorized bridges spanning the Ak-Buura River in Osh have been dismantled, as confirmed by local officials.
The dismantling affected the stretch from the Dostuk bridge on Alisher Navoi street to Raimbekov street. Many of the structures were privately owned.
An inspection revealed that the bridges were built without necessary permits and had been used for unregulated trade activities, with a total of 164 illegal points of sale operating on these structures.
Originally, there were 12 bridges constructed across the river.
Severe mudflows on July 14 led to significant debris accumulation that caused obstruction between the bridge supports. The river overflowed its banks, resulting in flooding of key market areas in Osh, including the central market and Beksultan market. Tragically, one woman was swept away by the strong currents, and three bridges were lost due to the mudflows.
