The Expressway Authority of Thailand (Exat) has implemented a narrow detour around the expressway collapse site on inbound Rama II Road, facilitating access to the Chalerm Maha Nakhon expressway via the Dao Khanong toll plaza.
The two-lane detour was officially opened at 6 AM on Monday.
Earlier, the Dao Khanong ramp of the Chalerm Maha Nakhon expressway was entirely obstructed by debris following the collapse of an expressway beam being erected above the ramp early Saturday morning.
Exat is actively working to clear the debris and aims to restore full inbound access to the Dao Khanong toll plaza within the next seven days.
However, the reopening of the outbound expressway ramp to Dao Khanong will take approximately 30 days due to damage caused by the falling beam, which affected a portion of the elevated ramp.
As of Monday, Exat reported that debris removal was 75% complete.
The collapse occurred on the Rama III-Dao Khanong-Bangkok Outer Western Ring Road expressway, currently under construction above segments of the Chalerm Maha Nakhon expressway and Rama II Road. The project is managed by the ITD-VCB Joint Venture comprising Italian-Thai Development Plc and Vichitbhan Construction Co.
Officials oversee debris removal efforts from the expressway collapse site near Dao Khanong toll plaza in Chom Thong district, Bangkok, on Sunday.
