The decomposed body of a civil services aspirant was discovered hanging from a tree in a forest area of Mukherjee Nagar in northwest Delhi, according to police reports on September 23, 2024.
The individual, identified as Deepak Kumar Meena from Dausa, Rajasthan, was found on September 20 after being reported missing for several days.
Authorities suspect that Meena may have taken his own life. “CCTV footage has been reviewed, and the case is currently being investigated as a potential suicide,” a senior police officer stated.
Meena’s father reported that his son had moved to Delhi in July to prepare for the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) mains exam after successfully passing the preliminaries.
He was in regular contact with his family, but after failing to call between September 10 and 13, his father traveled to Delhi to locate him.
Upon visiting his son’s accommodation, he learned from roommates that Meena had not returned for two days, prompting him to file a missing person report at the Mukherjee Nagar police station.
During the search efforts, authorities located Meena’s body in a forested area near the coaching institute he attended. It is believed he may have gone into the woods after class. His bag was also found hanging from the same tree, although no suicide note was discovered.
Following the completion of a post-mortem examination, the body was returned to the family.
