ECNETNews reports that this year marks the 20th anniversary of the influential album Plans by Death Cab for Cutie. To celebrate this significant milestone, the popular indie rock band has announced a series of special concerts in August across three cities: Seattle, Chicago, and Brooklyn. Fans can expect to hear the full 2005 album, which includes iconic singles such as “Soul Meets Body,” “I Will Follow You Into the Dark,” and “Crooked Teeth.” Certain shows will feature opening acts, adding to the excitement of the event.
Frontman Benjamin Gibbard reflected on the impact of Plans, stating, “It was our major label debut, it went platinum, and earned us our first GRAMMY nominations. We’re only playing a few special shows in its honor as we’re currently working on our next studio album, but we want to take the opportunity to celebrate this milestone.”
On August 9, Death Cab for Cutie will break up their two headlining shows in Brooklyn to perform at My Chemical Romance’s stadium concert in East Rutherford, New Jersey, where they will join the lineup as the latter plays The Black Parade in full. This date is not part of the anniversary celebration.
In recent years, Death Cab for Cutie has had a busy live schedule, having completed a co-headlining tour where they performed Transatlanticism in its entirety, delighting fans with double performances each night alongside their extensive discography.
