On September 16, Janes Addiction announced they would be taking time off as a group following an altercation between frontman Perry Farrell and guitarist Dave Navarro during a concert. In a surprising twist, just days later, the band has released a new song titled “True Love.”
“True Love” marks the second new track from the classic lineup of Jane’s Addiction, featuring Farrell, Navarro, drummer Stephen Perkins, and bassist Eric Avery. This follows their earlier release, “Imminent Redemption,” which debuted in July amid a reunion tour. Unfortunately, the tour was interrupted due to the incident involving Farrell and Navarro.
The band members Navarro, Perkins, and Avery cited Farrell’s ongoing mental health challenges and behavior as the reason for the tour’s cancellation. They expressed concern for both his personal well-being and their own, saying, “Our concern for his personal health and safety as well as our own has left us no alternative. We hope that he will find the help he needs.”
In response, Farrell took accountability for his actions and issued an apology to his bandmates, affirming his commitment to improving his personal health.
