An Abia State High Court, under the jurisdiction of Justice LTC Eruba, has halted the enforcement of the suspension of former Senate President Adolphus Wabara, who also serves as the Chairman of the Board of Trustees for the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).
In a ruling recently issued, Justice Eruba directed the leadership of the Abia PDP, led by Elder Abraham Amah, to refrain from carrying out the suspension. Wabara, represented by legal counsel, had filed a suit identified as HUK/8/2025 against Amah, seeking a court order to prevent the enforcement of the suspension.
The court granted Wabara’s request, stating, “The defendant is restrained from enforcing the suspension of the claimant/applicant from the People’s Democratic Party, or in any way affecting his position as the Chairman, Board of Trustees of the PDP until the motion on notice is determined.”
This legal action follows Amah’s announcement of Wabara’s suspension a few weeks prior, accusing him of engaging in activities contrary to the party’s interests. The claim stemmed from Wabara’s commendation of Governor Alex Otti for improvements made on the long-neglected Port Harcourt Road in Aba during a statement made in October 2023.
In response to Amah’s actions, the National Working Committee of the PDP deemed the suspension “null and void and of no effect,” asserting that it contravened the party’s constitution.
