Country music legend Garth Brooks is facing serious allegations of sexual assault and battery in a newly filed lawsuit in California state court. The lawsuit, brought forth by an anonymous accuser referred to as “Jane Roe,” claims the artist engaged in unlawful behavior while she was employed as a hairstylist and makeup artist for him between 2017 and 2020.
According to the legal documents, the allegations detail incidents of groping and inappropriate verbal remarks made by Brooks during her employment. The accuser alleges that in May 2019, he invited her to travel on his private jet to a Grammy tribute event, where they reportedly shared a hotel suite that Brooks only booked with one bedroom.
The lawsuit states that after arriving at the suite, Brooks appeared naked in the doorway before allegedly assaulting her. Following this incident, he is accused of continuing to make unwanted sexual advances and sharing explicit fantasies, which included a proposal for a threesome with his wife, fellow country music artist Trisha Yearwood.
In response to these serious allegations, Brooks has publicly denounced the lawsuit, labeling it as “extortion and defamation.” He expressed that for two months he has been subjected to threats and false narratives, referring to the situation as akin to having a loaded gun held to his head. Brooks insists that he has not engaged in any wrongful behavior and emphasizes his desire to focus on his music and charitable contributions.
Earlier this month, another lawsuit, described as anonymous and involving a celebrity and public figure residing in Tennessee, was filed in federal court in Mississippi. Brooks claims that these allegations arose after he declined a request for employment and benefits from the accuser. His own legal actions strongly deny the accusations, characterizing them as unfounded and harmful to his reputation.
The recent 27-page lawsuit filed by Jane Roe in Los Angeles Superior Court cites several grievances, including sexual assault, battery, and allegations of exposing himself. Garth Brooks, renowned for his significant contributions to country music and philanthropy, has sold over 162 million albums and holds a prominent place in the industry. The unfolding legal drama raises critical discussions about accountability and conduct in the entertainment world.
