Jakarta, ECNETNews – Marshel Widianto is actively campaigning for the position of Deputy Mayor of South Tangerang in the upcoming local elections. Recently, he conducted grassroots visits in various areas of South Tangerang to engage directly with the community.
During these visits, Marshel Widianto was accompanied by elected Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka. In addition to Gibran’s support, he also received encouragement from popular public figure Raffi Ahmad.
“Thank you to Mas Gibran Rakabuming Raka and Aa Raffi Ahmad for joining me in greeting the residents of Pondok Betung and Rengas Ciputat Timur,” stated Marshel Widianto.
Marshel expressed hope that the support he is receiving will energize his commitment to realizing his vision and mission for South Tangerang, referred to as IMUT (Impian Masyarakat untuk Tangsel), or “The People’s Dream for South Tangerang.” He emphasized the importance of spreading positivity and enthusiasm within the community.
A video shared by Marshel showcased him politely assisting Gibran Rakabuming Raka by opening the car door for him and even kneeling as he ushered him into the vehicle. After closing the door, Marshel appeared to be on guard for the Vice President. He also sent a heartfelt message to Gibran’s son, Jan Ethes, while affectionately kissing his own shirt in a gesture of love.
During this outreach event, both Marshel and Gibran distributed aid to the local community, visibly collaborating to capture public interest.
However, the reception from netizens was mixed, with some criticizing Marshel’s behavior, suggesting that he was seeking attention from Gibran, who holds a significant political role in Indonesia. Comments ranged from sarcastic to disapproving, with some stating, “I’m proud to be a sycophant,” and others questioning his suitability as a candidate for Deputy Mayor.
