ECNETNews Report: Connecticut Man Found Dead After Flooding Incident
WESTPORT, Conn. — The discovery of a man’s body in a river in Westport, Connecticut, may be linked to the catastrophic flooding that recently ravaged the region, resulting in two fatalities.
The deceased, identified as Robert Macisaac, 59, was found in the Aspetuck River on Thursday afternoon, with his submerged pickup truck located approximately one mile upstream in Fairfield.
“Initial investigations indicate a potential connection between this tragedy and the severe weather conditions experienced on Sunday. However, the precise circumstances leading to the vehicle’s departure from the roadway are still being examined," police stated. The official cause of death will be confirmed by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.
The storm on Sunday unleashed more than a foot of rain across southwestern Connecticut, transforming small streams into torrents, washing out roads and bridges, and flooding homes and businesses. Tragically, two women in Oxford lost their lives after being swept away by floodwaters during separate incidents, while numerous others required rescue.
Public records indicate that Macisaac resided near the Aspetuck River in Weston, within half a mile of where his truck was found. Authorities noted that the vehicle appeared to have been submerged for several days before the recovery operation, with his body discovered approximately five hours later.
Macisaac was last seen at around 5 p.m. on Sunday, and his vehicle was last recorded in Wilton at 10 p.m. on the same day. The investigation continues as officials work to uncover the details surrounding this tragic incident.
