Concord, once anticipated as a major entry in the hero shooter genre, has officially shutdown just two weeks after its launch, marking a significant disappointment in recent gaming history. However, fans of the game will be pleased to know that Concord will continue to play a role in the upcoming anthology series, Secret Level, set to premiere on Prime Video on December 10.
Announced in August during Gamescom, Secret Level promises to showcase animated short stories from a variety of beloved gaming franchises, including God of War, The Outer Worlds 2, and Warhammer 40K. Notably, Concord is among the 15 franchises selected for this project, ensuring that its legacy endures in a different medium.
In addition to revisiting familiar favorites, Secret Level will also introduce new narratives in franchises that have been dormant for years, such as Mega Man and Unreal Tournament. A teaser from the trailer sparked speculation about a possible appearance by Keanu Reeves in the Armored Core episode, although no confirmation has been issued as of yet. Reeves is already set to lend his voice to Shadow in the upcoming Sonic the Hedgehog 3.
The future of Concord remains uncertain, and one developer has candidly remarked that “none of us know what’s next.” In the lead-up to the game’s shutdown on September 6, reports indicated that players were resorting to drastic measures, like intentionally dying in the game, in an effort to achieve the coveted platinum trophy before the game’s closure.
