Chicago’s own Common energized the crowd, performing his powerful track “Fortunate,” which included adapted lyrics highlighting Vice President Kamala Harris’s role in shaping a better future. Joined by gospel singer Jonathan McReynolds on the chorus, Common declared, “I thank God for this moment in time where Kamala Harris will change the world for the better with love, hope, and grace.”
The Grammy and Academy Award-winning artist has a rich history with the Democratic Party, making waves back in 2016 when he performed the first and only Tiny Desk Concert held at the White House.
