In a proactive move to combat mosquito breeding, Vijayawada Municipal Corporation Commissioner H.M. Dhyanachandra has directed officials to utilize drones for spraying mosquito repellant oil in hard-to-reach areas. This initiative aims to significantly reduce mosquito populations.
This directive follows recent recommendations from Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu emphasizing the importance of modern techniques for controlling mosquito larvae in urban waterways.
During an inspection of the Budameru rivulet in Ramakrishnapuram, the Commissioner highlighted the need for increased greenery and continuous waste removal to eliminate potential breeding sites for mosquitoes.
By enhancing the environment, the Commissioner noted that pollution levels could be decreased, while oxygen levels would rise, leading to better public health outcomes. He urged that machinery be deployed for waste removal across the city’s three main canals—Ryves, Bandar, and Eluru.
