HAVANA, Cuba – A new book titled “Privilegiados del tiempo: Recuerdos de periodistas de la radio y la television” (Privileged of Time: Memories of Radio and Television Journalists) was unveiled in Havana to honor the upcoming 98th anniversary of the birth of Commander-in-Chief Fidel Castro Ruz, which will be celebrated on August 13, 2024.
The launch event attracted numerous representatives from the Institute of Information and Social Communication (ICS), as well as journalists who contributed to the book and key figures featured in its narratives.
The book’s author emphasized that it encapsulates significant experiences, some of which the contributors may not have initially recognized as valuable. The reflections shared highlight the humility of the journalists in recounting their encounters with Castro, a leader whose influence profoundly shaped their lives.
Another co-writer of the book mentioned that the compilation is not solely the work of two individuals but rather a collective effort that reflects the contributions of various colleagues. The anecdotes captured in the texts serve as a vibrant portrayal of the journalists’ experiences related to Castro’s leadership.
The director of the publishing house overseeing the release noted that the book emphasizes Fidel Castro’s human qualities, detailing his unwavering stand against injustice and his genuine concern for the populace.
“Privilegiados del tiempo: Recuerdos de periodistas de la radio y la television” stands as a tribute to Fidel Castro, featuring not only anecdotes that offer a closer look at the historical leader of the Cuban Revolution but also visuals from pivotal moments witnessed by those who were near him.
