The Chief Judge of Ogun State, Justice Mosunmola Dipeolu, urged newly appointed judicial officers to maintain integrity, impartiality, and a commitment to the rule of law in their roles.
During her address on Monday at the Judiciary Complex in Abeokuta, Justice Dipeolu emphasized the importance of upholding public trust in the judiciary. She stated that these officers are vital representatives of justice and must avoid actions that could undermine the court’s integrity.
Justice Dipeolu highlighted that their appointments were based on proven professionalism and dedication to justice, equity, and fairness. She called on the legal presidents to demonstrate wisdom and compassion, emphasizing their responsibility to interpret laws while considering customs and traditions.
“As Presidents (Legal), your role in administering justice at the grassroots level is crucial. You are tasked with ensuring fairness and efficiency in the delivery of justice,” she said, while reminding them of the maturity required when interacting with more experienced panel members.
The Chief Judge also stressed the need for adherence to the highest standards of integrity and transparency, warning against the misuse of judicial powers.
Justice Adebisi Femi-Segun, President of the Ogun State Customary Court of Appeal, praised the appointment of Presidents (Legal) as a significant step toward the professionalization of the judiciary, fostering deep-rooted justice within the community.
In her remarks, Justice Femi-Segun encouraged the new officers to perform their duties with integrity, stressing that respect for the judiciary is paramount in earning public confidence.
Mrs. Oluwatosin Junaid, speaking on behalf of her colleagues, reaffirmed their commitment to enhancing justice at the grassroots level and vowed to uphold the dignity of the judiciary in their professional conduct.
