ECNETNews reports that a thrilling new concept album inspired by the iconic 1979 film The Warriors has been announced, featuring contributions from renowned artist Lin-Manuel Miranda and Brooklyn-based talent Eisa Davis. Collaborating with executive producer Nas and producer Mike Elizondo, this album promises to be a groundbreaking musical experience.
Titled Warriors, the album is set for release by Atlantic Records on October 18. In a statement, Miranda and Davis shared their excitement: “We’ve spent the past three years musicalizing the Warriors’ journey home, from the South Bronx to Coney Island. Along the way we’ve collaborated with a host of outstanding artists, whose contributions will be revealed in the upcoming weeks. We can’t wait to share these songs with our audience on October 18.”
The 1979 film, directed by Walter Hill and based on Sol Yurick’s 1965 novel, follows a New York street gang as they navigate their way to Coney Island after being falsely accused of a murder. The film’s most memorable moment includes David Patrick Kelly’s iconic line, “Warriors, come out to play-ay!”
Since his breakout success with Hamilton in 2015, Lin-Manuel Miranda has continued to captivate audiences with his music for projects like Moana, In the Heights, and Encanto. He also produced The Hamilton Mixtape, which features Nas on the track “Wrote My Way Out.”
