The Commandant-General of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Dr. Ahmed Audi, conducted an important operational visit to the facilities of Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited, a private security company engaged by the Federal Government.
During the visit, Dr. Audi emphasized that no single security agency monopolizes strategies for combating crude oil theft. He praised Tantita for enhancing the nation’s crude oil production capacity through effective collaboration.
“Tantita is not the only private security company involved in the Federal Government’s efforts for oil pipeline security, but it is performing admirably,” Dr. Audi stated. He affirmed that the NSCDC would continue its partnership with Tantita to safeguard government assets across the Niger Delta region.
“My aim here is to solidify our partnership. Collaboration is crucial to our objective of minimizing, or entirely curbing, crude oil theft,” declared Audi. He highlighted that Tantita plays a vital role within the Joint Security Services’ efforts to secure pipelines, noting that multiple agencies can contribute effectively to combat this ongoing challenge.
Dr. Audi reiterated the critical importance of protecting Nigeria’s oil resources, underscoring the relevance of public-private partnerships in achieving comprehensive security solutions.
“The involvement of private security firms, particularly in today’s context, is essential for a successful outcome,” he added. He commended Tantita for their commitment to staff welfare while working alongside NSCDC personnel.
Chief Kestin Bondi, Managing Director of Tantita Security Services, noted the positive impact of their security operations on reducing oil theft and addressing environmental damage. He announced that crude oil production has now surpassed two million barrels per day, benefiting local aquatic life.
“Our waters are cleaner, and fishing has returned to our rivers,” said Bondi, as he thanked the administration for fostering an environment conducive to private sector participation in the fight against oil theft.
The efforts and achievements of Tantita Security Services have been met with enthusiasm from leadership figures, including Chairman High Chief Government Ekpemupolo, who expressed delight at hosting the NSCDC delegation.
This collaborative approach reflects a growing commitment to security and environmental sustainability in Nigeria’s critical oil sector.
