The highly anticipated MCU release Deadpool & Wolverine is poised to dominate the global box office. One of the standout features of the film is its extensive roster of cameo appearances. Fans were likely surprised to see Chris Hemsworth’s Thor make an emotional appearance, shedding tears as Deadpool, with half of his face exposed, lies in his arms. In an intriguing turn of events, Hemsworth has revealed that he knows the reason behind Thor’s tears.
Chris Hemsworth Reveals Thor’s Secret
Hemsworth’s insight came in response to a recent post from Ryan Reynolds. On August 1, Reynolds shared a still from a pivotal scene where his character performs a shushing gesture, captioning it, “I know why Thor was crying. I can’t unknow it. #DeadpoolAndWolverine.” Hemsworth quickly followed up by reposting Reynolds’ message, adding, “I can keep secrets too,” along with a shushing emoji.
The emotional scene takes place after the Time Variance Authority brings Wade Wilson / Deadpool to Mr. Paradox, who offers him a chance to join the Sacred Timeline or Earth-616. As Mr. Paradox discusses Deadpool’s potential integration into the Avengers, he reveals archival footage of Deadpool’s past, claiming the TVA has been monitoring him closely. A screen showing Thor cradling Deadpool captures Wade’s attention, with Mr. Paradox stating it is from the distant future.
Interestingly, Chris Hemsworth’s contribution to Deadpool & Wolverine was made using archival footage from Thor: The Dark World (2013). The film’s creators cleverly replaced Tom Hiddleston’s Loki with Deadpool to create this poignant moment.
In a 2022 interview, Hemsworth expressed his desire to join Deadpool 3, hinting at a plan to surpass Hugh Jackman’s record for portraying a superhero over the longest period. At that time, Jackman’s involvement in Deadpool & Wolverine was not confirmed, nor was there any indication of a cameo by Wesley Snipes’ Blade. Jackman first appeared as Wolverine in X-Men (2000), while Blade debuted in 1998.
