Chris Eubank Jr has been slapped with a hefty £100,000 fine by the British Boxing Board of Control for an incident involving Conor Benn during their initial press conference. The Board announced that Eubank Jr. breached Regulation 25 (misconduct) during the Manchester press conference held for their highly anticipated fight scheduled for April 26, 2025.
The Stewards of the British Boxing Board confirmed, “Following a hearing, Chris Eubank Jr was fined £100,000 due to his actions during the press event.”
The upcoming clash between Eubank and Benn is set to take place at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London. This fight was originally intended for 2022 but was postponed after revelations of Benn failing two pre-fight drug tests.
After a provisional suspension, Benn is now cleared to box in the UK, reigniting a bitter rivalry between the two, as they are the sons of legendary British boxers Chris Eubank Sr. and Nigel Benn.
In a controversial gesture, Eubank struck Benn with an egg during the press conference, which some interpreted as both an insult and a reference to claims made by the WBC regarding Benn’s prior drug test failures. Eubank Jr. later commented on social media regarding the incident, saying, “Apparently, egg contamination was the reason for his two failed drugs tests. So I contaminated him with an egg.”
