Quincy Homere, who pleaded guilty in July to the manslaughter of rapper Chinx in 2015, has been sentenced to 23 years in prison. The Queens District Attorney, Melinda Katz, stated, “Homere fired several rounds into Pickens’ vehicle while he was stopped at a red light in Briarwood and then fled, leaving the young man for dead. While nothing can change the past, I hope today’s sentence brings some comfort to Pickens’ loved ones during their ongoing grief.”
Chinx’s widow, Janelli Caceres, addressed the court, sharing her heartbreaking experience: “I was told I had two minutes to say goodbye, holding his mother’s hand, watching his lifeless body praying and crying for him to wake up. A mother has to bury her son. At 28, I became a widow. My children, who were 15, 11, and 4, are now without a father.”
The case involving Homere’s co-defendant, Jamar Hill, remains unresolved as he is currently incarcerated for unrelated charges.
