ECNETNews reports that OpenAI’s ChatGPT web search feature is now accessible to everyone, even without an account.
OpenAI has confirmed via social media that the ChatGPT search feature has been officially rolled out to all users, eliminating the requirement to sign up or log in.
The ChatGPT web search feature initially launched in late October of the previous year and is integrated directly into the ChatGPT AI chatbot.
Users can easily activate the search function by clicking the search button. ChatGPT responds to queries in a conversational manner while providing relevant information from the Internet, including photos and sourced links, presented in a search engine-like format.
Previously, when the search feature first launched, it was exclusive to paying ChatGPT subscribers. In December, the search capability was expanded to all logged-in users. Now, anyone can utilize ChatGPT search without needing to create an account.
A recent analysis from a search engine optimization firm revealed that, although Google boasts billions more search users than ChatGPT, OpenAI’s chatbot is increasingly driving more search traffic to third-party websites.
As ChatGPT search becomes more universally accessible, it will be insightful to see how user search behaviors evolve with the introduction of new options.
