The anti-corruption vigilance unit has apprehended an executive from a Chhattisgarh-based cement manufacturing company for allegedly attempting to bribe a District Collector. The incident occurred on September 11, 2024, when the individual visited the office of Bargarh Collector, Aditya Goyal, bearing gifts which raised suspicions.
During the meeting, the individual presented a flower bouquet and a sweet packet, prompting the Collector to ask a staff member to inspect the contents. To his astonishment, the packet contained four bundles of ₹500 currency notes, totaling ₹2 lakh.
The vigilance team was promptly notified, and they arrived at the scene to seize the cash and detain the suspect. A case has been registered under the Prevention of Corruption Act for attempting to induce a public servant. The accused has been arrested and is set to be brought before the court.
