Celine Boutier clinched her inaugural Aramco Team Series title in Shenzhen, fending off local favorite Xiyu Lin in a thrilling final round. Both players entered the day tied, but Boutier’s remarkable bogey-free seven-under-par performance propelled her to a two-shot victory.
This victory marks Boutier’s first title of 2024, coming just ahead of a busy LPGA swing in Asia, which includes four events over the next month, starting with LPGA Shanghai.
“It was a fantastic round, and I enjoyed the competition,” Boutier expressed. “I hoped a few more putts would drop, but I’m pleased with how I managed my game today. It was a close contest throughout. You had to stay focused until the end, and I was really happy with my play on the last two holes. I maintained solid performance from the start and felt confident over the last two days.”
Lin opened the final round impressively, notching three consecutive birdies to briefly pull ahead. However, Boutier quickly regained momentum, sinking consecutive birdies on the seventh, eighth, and ninth holes to take a one-shot lead into the back nine. A crucial bogey on the 15th from Lin allowed Boutier to secure her win, marking her sixth title on the Ladies European Tour.
In related news, Team Tamburlini claimed a dramatic one-stroke victory in the team event, featuring players from Switzerland, South Africa, China, and an amateur competitor.
