ECNETNews, Miami, FL, October 16, 2024: The funeral for the late Cuban reggaeton artist José Manuel Carbajal, widely known as “El Taiger,” is scheduled for this Saturday at the Catholic Church of San Lázaro in Hialeah, Miami.
The public memorial service will commence at 1:30 PM on Saturday, October 19, at the church located at 4400 W 18th Ave, Hialeah, FL 33012. This announcement follows the artist’s tragic passing from a gunshot wound to the head last Thursday.
In a statement, it was noted that “This will be a moment for all of us to gather and celebrate the life, legacy, and contributions of José Manuel Carbajal.” Attendees are required to adhere to a strict dress code, and there will be no loud music, candles, or talking during the ceremony, ensuring total silence is maintained.
El Taiger’s team expressed heartfelt gratitude for the overwhelming support from fans and friends during this challenging time. Vigils have been held by hundreds of fans in his honor since news of his passing, recognizing his influence over 15 years as a key figure in Latin music culture.
Born José Manuel Carbajal Zaldívar, El Taiger was found on October 3 in a Mercedes-Benz, having suffered a fatal gunshot wound. Authorities suspect he was shot elsewhere before being transported to the location. The singer had faced two criminal charges over the summer but had pled not guilty to both offenses.
Miami police have identified a person of interest, Damian Valdez-Galloso, known as “El Narra,” a convicted felon and registered sex offender, as part of their ongoing investigation.
During an interview, El Taiger’s cousin, Jorge Junior, shared that the family intends to cremate the artist and return his ashes to Cuba to be laid to rest next to his mother’s grave.
