Jason Isbell captivated audiences during the opening night of the 2024 Democratic National Convention held in Chicago, Illinois. The acclaimed Americana singer-songwriter delivered a powerful performance of “Something More Than Free,” the title track from his Grammy-winning album released in 2015.
In 2021, Isbell and his band, the 400 Unit, released Georgia Blue, a charitable collection of cover songs celebrating President Joe Biden’s victory in Georgia. They continued their artistic journey with the release of their 2023 studio album Weathervanes.
Isbell was among several artists supporting Vice President Kamala Harris, who has already secured the Democratic presidential nomination. The opening night showcased additional performances, including Mickey Guyton’s rendition of her song “All American” and James Taylor’s timeless classic “You’ve Got A Friend.” Earlier this month, Bon Iver also expressed support for Harris at a rally in Wisconsin.
