WASHINGTON — Vice President Kamala Harris has reported an impressive fundraising haul, raising $361 million from nearly 3 million donors during August, far surpassing former President Donald Trump’s $130 million in the same time frame. This significant financial boost comes in her first full month as a candidate.
Harris’s campaign concluded the month with $404 million available for the final phase leading up to Election Day, holding a $109 million advantage over Trump’s reported figures.
This substantial fundraising effort is part of a $370 million paid media strategy for the last two months of the campaign and will support over 2,000 field staff working across more than 310 offices in key battleground states.
Harris’s fundraising momentum follows a remarkable $310 million raised in July, largely fueled by her assumption of leadership in the campaign after President Joe Biden exited the race. This shift has provided the Democratic party with renewed vigor, overcoming the fundraising advantage previously held by Trump amidst lingering voter concerns regarding Biden’s leadership.
“Vice President Harris has quickly built a broad and diverse coalition, demonstrating the enthusiasm and energy necessary to win crucial elections,” stated a campaign representative. “As we approach the final days of this election cycle, we are committed to ensuring every dollar raised is utilized for winning over the pivotal voters.”
It is worth noting that the financial reports from both campaigns have not yet included complete filings with the Federal Elections Commission, which are expected to be released later this month. The reported totals encompass fundraising contributions from their respective national parties and affiliated committees.
