ECNETNews, September 25, 2024: The British Virgin Islands is preparing for the much-anticipated Anegada Lobster Festival, scheduled for November 30th to December 1st. Now celebrating its 12th year, the festival will feature 13 local restaurants showcasing delectable lobster dishes, marking the highest participation in the event’s history. Under the theme “Lobster, Sun, and Anegada Fun,” this festival promises an exceptional culinary experience on the picturesque island of Anegada.
“We are excited about the strong involvement of local businesses,” stated the Director of Tourism for the British Virgin Islands. “Collaborating with industry partners and government agencies, we aim to provide a seamless experience for visitors from arrival to departure.” Visitors are encouraged to stay informed through updates about the upcoming festival ‘flapbook,’ which will include vital information regarding restaurants, transportation, accommodations, and safety protocols.
This year introduces a new competition to honor the best lobster sampler, evaluated by renowned Executive Chef Shane Huggins, who is also the Chef Ambassador for Saint Martin’s Gastronomy Festival 2024. The winner will receive the inaugural ALFFY Award, recognizing them as the leading lobster sampler creator. Additionally, around 600 festivalgoers will be gifted sampler vouchers for complimentary tastings at participating restaurants, available on a first-come, first-served basis.
The widely popular Family Fun Day will return, organized by the VI Recreation Trust, featuring attractions like waterslides, bouncy houses, and live entertainment at the ferry dock. The Party Cycle will also make its comeback, allowing participants to enjoy a scenic tour of Anegada while savoring drinks and music.
The festival kicks off on Saturday, November 30th, with the British Virgin Islands Tourist Board & Film Commission welcoming guests at both the ferry dock and airport. Restaurants involved will offer $10 lobster samplers alongside their usual menus. Notable restaurants include favorites like Lil Bit, Anegada Reef Hotel, and Wonky Dog, along with new participant Flamingo Pride.
Travel options to Anegada include flights, passenger ferries, car ferries, and barges from the U.S. Virgin Islands, Tortola, Jost Van Dyke, and Virgin Gorda. Taxis will be available on the island for convenient transportation between restaurants and attractions, including the Flamingo Point Lookout, Conch Shell Mounds, and the Iguana Headstart Facility. Visitors can also engage in thrilling activities like snorkeling, kayaking, and horseback riding.
