The Kwara State Police Command has confirmed the abduction of a local businessman, Emeka Nwachukwu, from his clinic in Kosubosu, Baruten Local Government Area, on Wednesday night.
Emeka was taken around 8:30 PM by armed individuals who stormed his clinic on the outskirts of the town, subsequently taking him to an undisclosed location.
Authorities report that the kidnappers contacted Emeka’s family the following morning, demanding a ransom of N100 million for his release. Ongoing negotiations between the family and the abductors are underway.
In a statement, the Police Public Relations Officer for Kwara State, Ejire-Adeyemi Toun, acknowledged the incident. “The Kwara State Police Command is aware of the unfortunate kidnapping of Mr. Emeka C. Nwachukwu that occurred on 11th September 2024 at 8:30 PM,” Ejire-Adeyemi stated. “He was abducted from his clinic on the outskirts of Kosubosu town and taken to an unknown location. The police, alongside local vigilantes, have ramped up efforts to ensure the victim’s safe return.”
