ECNETNews, December 21, 2024: Renowned Grammy-winning Jamaican reggae star Buju Banton is set to headline the inaugural Tobago Rhythm and Soul Festival next April, a thrilling addition to the island’s cultural calendar.
The festival, organized by the Tobago Festivals Commission, will take place from April 17 to 20, 2025, featuring a diverse lineup of artists each night to accommodate a variety of musical preferences. The announcement of Buju Banton’s performance has created significant excitement, with recent social media posts accumulating over 400 shares and more than 200 comments from eager fans looking forward to the event.
Filling The Void For April Music Events
In 2024, the Tobago Festivals Commission decided not to hold the traditional Tobago Jazz Festival in April. Chief Secretary Farley Augustine indicated that the focus would shift to allowing the private sector to lead such events while the Tobago House of Assembly (THA) would provide support.
This transition has set the stage for the Tobago Jazz and Music Weekend, which will be hosted by a local promotions company from April 25-28, 2024. Marketing and Communications Manager of the Tobago Festivals Commission, Anjaana Downes, stated that the Tobago Rhythm and Soul Festival is designed to complement this shift rather than replace the popular jazz festival.
A Festival For All Audiences
The Tobago Rhythm and Soul Festival is poised to engage a wide range of audiences with its three-night schedule, each night catering to different crowds.
Saturday Night will showcase a Seafood and Jazz event aimed at a more mature audience.
Sunday Night will feature a mixed-audience celebration, headlined by Buju Banton himself.
Downes encouraged the public to stay informed through the festival’s official channels, where ticket information and early-bird specials will be announced soon. Tickets will be available via designated local ticketing outlets.
