Bruce Springsteen has unveiled his cover of the 2015 Jesse Malin track “She Don’t Love Me Now,” featured on the upcoming compilation album Silver Patron Saints. The release showcases Springsteen’s homage to Malin and is set to draw attention from music fans.
This compilation not only highlights Springsteen’s talents but also aims to support a noble cause. Proceeds from Silver Patron Saints will benefit Jesse Malin’s Sweet Relief fund, established following a rare spinal stroke he suffered in 2023, which left him paralyzed from the waist down.
In a collaborative effort, Springsteen recorded “She Don’t Love Me Now” alongside Malin’s backing band and Jake Clemons, saxophonist from the E Street Band. Malin expressed his admiration for Springsteen’s rendition, noting, “Bruce gave it that Stax-soul-thing that we were dreaming of when we recorded the original. It’s so surreal to me.”
Springsteen and Malin share a history of collaboration, previously teaming up on the 2007 song “Broken Radio,” which was reissued in 2022 as “Broken Radio ’22.” Malin praised Springsteen’s character, stating, “Bruce’s generosity, honesty, and support are equally as powerful as his songwriting and performing. He walks it like he talks it.”
The highly anticipated album Silver Patron Saints is scheduled for release on September 20, featuring contributions from various artists, including Bleachers, Spoon, Dinosaur Jr., the Hold Steady, Susanna Hoffs, and Green Day’s Billie Joe Armstrong.
