The Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs has announced that fasting may extend into Sunday, as the moon has not yet been sighted, which would mark the end of Ramadan.
In a statement released on Saturday, the council, led by His Eminence, the Sultan of Sokoto, Alh. Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar, urged Muslims to actively search for the crescent of Shawwal on the 29th of Ramadan. The statement emphasized that should the crescent be sighted in accordance with moon sighting standards, Sunday, March 30, 2025, will be declared the 1st of Shawwal and the day of Eid al-Fitr.
