In a shocking incident, the body of a young Congress worker, identified as Himani Narwal (22), was discovered stuffed in a suitcase near the Sampla bus stand in Rohtak district, Haryana, on Saturday. The Congress party has called for a high-level investigation into the circumstances surrounding her death, as Narwal was associated with the Bharat Jodo Yatra.
Passers-by alerted authorities upon spotting the suitcase, prompting a swift response from local police and a forensic team. Upon arrival, investigators found Narwal’s body inside the suitcase, which had been concealed and was notably disturbing in nature.
Initial police reports revealed that Narwal’s neck was wrapped with a dupatta, and she bore mehendi designs on her hands, leading authorities to suspect foul play in her death, likely through strangulation. Narwal was a resident of the Vijay Nagar area in Rohtak, and her body has been sent to PGIMS Rohtak for a post-mortem examination.
As details of the case unfolded, Congress MLA BB Batra publicly demanded the establishment of a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to thoroughly probe the matter, highlighting Narwal’s active participation in party events.
Vijendra Singh, the in-charge at Sampla police station, stated that an investigation is underway, with a registered case reflecting the gravity of this incident. Further actions are anticipated post-autopsy findings.
Former Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Hooda expressed his shock over Narwal’s brutal murder, insisting on a high-level and impartial investigation. He conveyed his condolences to her family and emphasized the need for swift justice, asserting that such incidents reflect poorly on the state’s law and order situation.
The community is rallying for answers and justice following this tragic event, underscoring the urgency to address safety concerns for individuals involved in political activities.
