Black Sabbath’s original lineup is set to reunite for their first concert in two decades, marking what is billed as Ozzy Osbourne’s final performance. The special event, titled “Back to the Beginning” charity concert, will take place on Saturday, July 5, at Villa Park in Birmingham, the band’s hometown. This monumental show will feature an incredible lineup, including iconic bands like Metallica, Pantera, and Slayer, alongside a supergroup led by Tom Morello, featuring Billy Corgan, Slash, Fred Durst, and Wolfgang Van Halen.
The concert will also showcase a stellar array of artists such as Gojira, Anthrax, Alice in Chains, Mastodon, Lamb of God, and Halestorm. Duff McKagan and Slash from Guns N’ Roses will also perform. Osbourne is expected to deliver a brief solo set before reuniting with Black Sabbath, while various artists will honor the band’s legacy with performances of classic Sabbath and Ozzy solo tracks.
Ozzy stated, “It’s my time to go Back to the Beginning….time for me to give back to the place where I was born. How blessed am I to do it with the help of people whom I love. Birmingham is the true home of metal. Birmingham Forever.”
Tom Morello expressed his excitement for the event, declaring, “This will be the greatest heavy metal show ever.”
Sharon Osbourne shared that her husband is “doing really great” and is thrilled to reconnect with his bandmates and friends. She mentioned, “Ozzy didn’t have a chance to say goodbye to his friends, to his fans, and he feels there’s no full stop. This is his full stop.”
All proceeds from the concert will benefit Cure Parkinson’s, Birmingham Children’s Hospital, and Acorn Children’s Hospice, promising to make this event not only a rock spectacle but also a significant charitable endeavor.
