In a surprising musical collaboration, producer Richard Russell has brought together indie favorite Bill Callahan and rising star Noah Cyrus for a duet that is capturing attention across the industry. Born out of a creative session for the upcoming Everything Is Recorded album, Russell inquired about Callahan’s dream songwriting partner, to which he responded with Cyrus’ name. The result is “Porcupine Tattoo,” a track where Callahan’s haunting vocals blend seamlessly with Cyrus’ contemporary style, recorded at the iconic Chateau Marmont in Los Angeles.
Fans can look forward to the release of a 7″ single from XL Recordings and Drag City, featuring “Porcupine Tattoo” alongside another collaboration between Russell and Callahan titled “Norm,” a touching tribute to the late Norm Macdonald. Russell has consistently pushed creative boundaries, having previously included Callahan’s “I’m New Here” on a Gil Scott-Heron covers album, and has also been busy releasing compositions inspired by the seasonal changes over the past year.
