The BJP is set to host a substantial celebration for the birth anniversary of Dalit icon Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, launching a series of events across the nation for 10 days starting April 15. This initiative arrives as the Assembly elections in Bihar approach, reflecting the party’s strategy to engage with Dalits, a significant voting demographic in the state.
The Ambedkar commemorations will commence on April 15, the day following Ambedkar Jayanti, and continue until April 25. The BJP plans to hold various programs centered around the Constitution, featuring participation from numerous MPs, Union Ministers, and senior party leaders.
Additionally, the BJP will celebrate its foundation day on April 6, coinciding with the nationwide observance of Ram Navami. In a recent virtual meeting, party chief JP Nadda encouraged MPs to brainstorm ideas for the foundation day festivities and activities for Ram Navami.
This strategic move is particularly vital as the BJP seeks to solidify its Hindu voter base in preparation for upcoming Assembly elections in West Bengal, targeting the Trinamool Congress.
Nadda has also instructed party MPs to gather public opinions across the country regarding the One Nation, One Election initiative—aimed at synchronizing Lok Sabha and Assembly elections. MPs are expected to collect feedback over the next few days in a neutral manner, independent of party affiliation, in order to assess the public sentiment on this proposed electoral reform.
