Big Thief has launched a new EP titled Passional Relations to support wildfire relief efforts in California. A significant portion of the proceeds from the five-track EP will be directed to the Plus1 LA Fires Fund. Fans can purchase the digital EP for $15 through the band’s webstore.
Passional Relations features two opening tracks—“Imagination” and “Light as Light”—recorded with Dom Monks in 2020. The third track, “Waiting on Blue,” also from 2020, includes vocals from Mat Davidson and was recorded with Scott McMicken. Additionally, the fourth track, “Zombie Girl,” was recorded by Sam Owens at Flying Cloud, while the closing song, “Shadow Too,” was captured by Big Thief’s James Krivchenia in Topanga, California, back in 2018.
In a statement, Big Thief expressed their support, saying, “Our hearts are broken for everyone affected by the fires in California. We’ve compiled some of our favorite unreleased songs into an EP called Passional Relations, available exclusively on our webstore. All proceeds will go to providing relief for those impacted by the fires in Los Angeles. We hope our contributions will not only meet the immediate needs of affected communities but also help sustain the work, identity, and culture of the artists within them.”
