Beverly Glenn-Copeland, the acclaimed composer and musician, has announced a personal health update revealing his diagnosis of dementia. The 80-year-old Canadian artist shared this news alongside his wife and collaborator, Elizabeth Glenn-Copeland. In a heartfelt statement, Glenn-Copeland confirmed that their upcoming tour will mark their final live performances together.
“Together, we aim to redefine society’s perception of dementia, which often highlights loss. We are choosing to celebrate life and the creative journey we are on,” said Glenn-Copeland. He expressed profound gratitude towards Elizabeth for her unwavering support and care. “Her incredible vision has played a significant role in allowing me to perform during this tour, which I consider my last.”
Beverly Glenn-Copeland has enjoyed a groundbreaking career that spans various genres, including folk, avant-jazz, and ambient music. His music experienced a revival after the 2016 rediscovery of his 1986 album Keyboard Fantasies. Earlier this year, he released The Ones Ahead, marking his first new work in two decades. His artistic journey was also highlighted in the compilation Transmissions and the documentary Keyboard Fantasies.
