Benue State Governor, Hyacinth Alia, urged newly deployed corps members to commit to their service with unwavering loyalty and dedication during the orientation course at the NYSC Camp in Wannune, Tarka Local Government Area.
Addressing Batch B, Stream 2, the governor emphasized the vital role corps members play in shaping Nigeria’s future. “You must serve the country with unreserved loyalty and dedication,” he stated, underscoring the importance of their contributions.
Represented by the Permanent Secretary of the State Ministry of Youth and Sports Development, Mr. John Akume, Governor Alia encouraged corps members to engage fully in the NYSC’s skills acquisition and entrepreneurship programs, highlighting them as pathways to significant opportunities.
“I admonish you to take the programme seriously as it is a gateway to great fortune,” he advised. The governor reiterated his administration’s commitment to the security and welfare of all corps members throughout the state.
In her welcome remarks, State Coordinator Veronica Garba praised Governor Alia for his steadfast support of the NYSC since taking office. She noted the positive reception from corps members regarding timely payments of their monthly state allowances and the recent allocation of one million naira for four outstanding members.
Garba thanked the governor for initiatives addressing erosion control at the Orientation Camp through improved drainage systems and road networks, which are nearing completion. She encouraged corps members to seize the opportunities provided by the Federal Government and to actively participate in the NYSC Orientation Course and other state initiatives.
A total of 1,200 corps members took an oath of allegiance, administered by Justice Josephine Ayua, representing the State Chief Judge.
