ECNETNews is excited to announce that Benjamin Booker will release his highly anticipated new album, Lower, marking his first studio album in over seven years. This album follows his 2017 release, Witness, and is set to drop on January 24 under his new label, Fire Next Time Records. Booker collaborated with acclaimed producer Kenny Segal on this project and will embark on a North American tour in support of the album.
The lead single, “Lwa in the Trailer Park,” is already generating buzz, accompanied by a striking black-and-white music video. Booker expressed a deep connection to the cinematic works of Paul Schrader during the creative process, aiming to explore themes of troubled characters striving for transcendence. His artistic vision also draws inspiration from Jean-Pierre Melville’s Le Samouraï and Charles Burnett’s Killer of Sheep as he prepares a series of connected music videos.
In addition to his new work, Booker featured on the track “Baby Steps” from billy woods and Kenny Segal’s album Maps, showcasing his versatility and collaborative spirit.
