Youn Yuh-jung, the acclaimed actress from Minari, has officially joined the cast of Beef Season 2.
The first season of the popular anthology series Beef, created by Lee Sung Jin, debuted on Netflix in April 2023. Featuring performances by Steven Yeun and Ali Wong, the A24 production garnered multiple Primetime Emmy Awards, including Outstanding Limited or Anthology Series, Outstanding Lead Actor, and Outstanding Lead Actress.
Netflix has announced Youn Yuh-jung’s participation in Beef Season 2, with specific details about her character yet to be revealed.
Youn Yuh-jung earned the Best Supporting Actress Academy Award for her role in the 2020 film Minari, helmed by Lee Isaac Chung. She is also part of the Apple TV+ series Pachinko and is set to co-star with Lily Gladstone and Kelly Marie Tran in Andrew Ahn’s upcoming remake of The Wedding Banquet, scheduled for release in 2025.
Beef Season 2 Cast Expands
In recent updates, it has been confirmed that Oscar Isaac, Carey Mulligan, Charles Melton, and Cailee Spaeny will also join the cast of Beef Season 2.
The storyline for Beef Season 2 centers around “a young couple witnessing a shocking confrontation between their boss and his wife, initiating a series of strategic moves in the high-stakes environment of a country club owned by a Korean billionaire,” according to the plot summary.
The second season will feature eight episodes, a slight alteration from the inaugural season’s format of ten episodes. Lee Sung Jin continues to serve as executive producer alongside Yeun, Wong, and Jake Schreier.
A release date for Beef Season 2 has yet to be announced. Fans can still enjoy the complete first season, which is currently available for streaming on Netflix.
