The Los Angeles hardcore band Zulu has announced a hiatus amid serious allegations against frontman Anaiah Rasheed Muhammad. The announcement follows claims made by another musician, who described her relationship with Muhammad as abusive, citing physical, emotional, and psychological mistreatment.
In response to the allegations, Muhammad has strongly denied any wrongdoing, calling the claims “false and deeply troubling.” He asserted that he has never engaged in physical abuse or coercion against anyone.
In their statement regarding the hiatus, Zulu members expressed their support for victims of abuse, emphasizing their condemnation of mistreatment within communities. They offered their sympathies to anyone who has endured physical or emotional abuse, or any acts that have undermined their autonomy.
The band’s members also clarified that they have distanced themselves from Muhammad, stating that they will no longer collaborate or perform with him. They revealed that they were previously unaware of the allegations against the singer until they were made public.
In response to the band’s statement, the accuser has contested their claims, labeling their remarks as misleading and disputing the assertion that the other band members were unaware of her allegations.
