Notable lyricist and filmmaker Sreekumaran Thampi has been honored with the prestigious Legend of Honour award by the Malayalam Cine Technicians’ Association. The award ceremony took place on Saturday, September 7, 2024, during the federation’s 30th anniversary celebration.
The accolade, which includes a cash prize of one lakh, a citation, and a memento, was presented to Thampi by acclaimed filmmaker Joshiy. The day’s celebrations kicked off with Joshiy hoisting the flag, marking the start of the anniversary festivities.
Prominent figures from the film industry, including filmmakers Sathyan Anthikad, B. Unnikrishnan, Lal, and actress Aparna Balamurali, were present to pay tribute to Thampi’s contributions to cinema.
In addition to the award ceremony, a symposium focused on ‘Changing Film Appreciation’ was held, highlighting the evolving perspectives on cinema. The event concluded with a series of cultural programs in the evening, showcasing the rich artistic talent within the industry.
