Xbox has officially announced the delay of the highly anticipated action RPG, Avowed, which is now scheduled to launch on February 18, 2025. This decision comes as the gaming community braces for an influx of titles in the final months of 2024, allowing players some breathing room amid a packed release schedule.
By postponing Avowed’s release, Xbox alleviates competition with other major games such as S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl, Metaphor: ReFantazio, Dragon Age: The Veilguard, and Assassin’s Creed Shadows this holiday season. Instead, the title will debut in a less congested gaming landscape at the beginning of 2025.
In its announcement, Xbox highlighted that additional information regarding their game portfolio, including releases from Activision, Blizzard, and Bethesda, will be unveiled at an upcoming event. A special livestream on August 23 will also showcase Avowed, providing fans with more insight into the game.
Avowed promises to deliver an experience reminiscent of Obsidian’s acclaimed The Outer Worlds, though set in a more fantastical realm. Players will be able to choose between first- and third-person perspectives, recruit NPC allies, engage in choice-driven dialogue, and utilize a variety of melee weapons, firearms, and magic in combat. The game is set to launch exclusively for Xbox Series X|S and PC.
