The Nigeria Police Force successfully neutralized seven terrorists and seized 23 firearms, along with various ammunition, in a series of recent operations aimed at bolstering internal security across the nation.
In a statement, the Force Public Relations Officer highlighted the operations as essential steps in dismantling criminal networks. On February 14, 2025, armed assailants invaded Gobiraje Village in Kebbi State and kidnapped a 60-year-old man, Umaru Bawa. Police operatives in Kebbi promptly tracked the suspects to Tundafari Forest in the Dakingari region, engaging them in a fierce gunfight. Four kidnappers were eliminated, and one was apprehended with severe injuries. The victim was rescued unharmed, and a ransom of N3 million was recovered.
Additionally, on February 8, 2025, in Imo State, police officers, in conjunction with other security agencies, raided a camp associated with IPOB/ESN terrorists in Ezioha Mbaitolu. Two key members of the group were neutralized, resulting in the recovery of seven AK-47 rifles, 13 pump-action guns, and hundreds of live rounds of ammunition.
The following day, operatives raided Nkwukwo Forest, where they intercepted a group of terrorists. In the ensuing exchange, three more terrorist leaders were eliminated. The police recovered two AK-47 rifles with loaded ammunition, a pump-action gun, a cutlass, four motorcycles, and various criminal charms.
These operations underscore the Nigeria Police Force’s commitment to maintaining law and order and its determination to dismantle criminal networks threatening public safety. The Inspector-General of Police has commended the courageous efforts of the operatives and emphasized the need for increased vigilance in combating crime.
