Ubisoft has announced that the highly anticipated Assassin’s Creed Shadows will be available for play on Steam Deck starting next week.
In a recent update, it was confirmed that Assassin’s Creed Shadows achieves Steam Deck Verified status. This distinction ensures users will experience seamless controller support, clear text legibility, and appropriate resolution settings, although it doesn’t guarantee optimal performance.
Set in Japan, Assassin’s Creed Shadows marks a significant milestone as Ubisoft’s first day-one Steam release following a shift in its Steam strategy last fall. Initially, there were concerns regarding compatibility, as Ubisoft had indicated in a prior Q&A that the game’s specifications might exceed the Steam Deck’s requirements. However, this misconception has been clarified with the recent announcement.
Notably, previous entries in the Assassin’s Creed series on Steam have been labeled as Playable rather than Verified, making Shadows the first title in this franchise to achieve the Verified status.
Assassin’s Creed Shadows is slated for release on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S on March 20. Be sure to check our preorder guide to secure your copy and explore our selection of top Steam Deck games for your next adventure.
