General Upendra Dwivedi has conducted a comprehensive review of the security situation along the international border in Manipur during his two-day visit to the region. According to an Army statement, Gen. Dwivedi was accompanied by the Eastern Army Commander as they assessed both border security and the internal security dynamics on August 23, 2024.
During this visit, Gen. Dwivedi commended the efforts of the Indian Army and Assam Rifles in maintaining peace and harmony within the area. He also engaged with veterans, recognizing their vital contributions towards nation-building and encouraging them to foster peace and friendship among communities.
Additionally, Gen. Dwivedi met with Manipur Chief Minister N. Biren Singh for extensive discussions on the evolving security landscape. The Army Chief reassured the Chief Minister of the Indian Army’s unwavering commitment to upholding peace in the region, emphasizing that all necessary support would be extended for the well-being of the local populace.
