Apple is taking decisive action against the daily disruption of spam phone calls.
The tech giant announced a new initiative, allowing businesses to register their identities, including names and logos, to ensure consistent recognition across various communication channels. For instance, if a pharmacy sends you an email about your prescription after registering, you’ll see a clear “branded mail” that confirms its authenticity. The same functionality will apply to phone calls, displaying the company logo for registered entities starting next year.
This initiative is part of a new program called Business Connect, featuring a caller ID system aptly named Business Caller ID. If implemented effectively, it could significantly reduce the nuisance of spam calls for many users. However, there are some immediate limitations to consider. Businesses must take the initiative to register for Business Connect themselves, and determined scammers may still find ways to circumvent the system.
Nevertheless, any progress in combating spam is a welcome change. As someone who has experienced up to eight spam calls in a single day, the move by Apple is a much-needed relief.
