APC Declares PDP on the Brink of Extinction Amid Leadership Crisis
The All Progressives Congress (APC) has characterized the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as a political entity teetering on the edge of extinction, citing ongoing leadership struggles as a significant factor.
The APC has called on Nigerians to prevent the PDP from regaining power, emphasizing the negative legacy it left following its 16 years in governance.
In a recent interview, the National Publicity Director of the APC pointed out that the nation is still grappling with the repercussions of the PDP’s previous misrule. He stated, “Nigeria continues to suffer from the consequences of the PDP’s governance. That party does not seem serious about returning to leadership. This is merely the beginning of their decline.”
The APC official criticized the PDP’s internal management, asserting, “Their failure to manage not only Nigeria but also their own party is evident. Nigerians have been delivered from their clutches for a reason.”
He added that if one delves deeper into the internal issues plaguing the PDP, the extent of their challenges becomes clearer. He also suggested that PDP members could benefit from political training offered by the APC’s Progressive Institute.
When questioned about allegations linking the APC to the crises within the PDP, he refuted the claims, stating, “The APC is not involved in the issues arising at the PDP headquarters. Their struggles stem solely from their internal failings, and they cannot attribute their problems to us.”
In related developments, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar was notably absent during a recent meeting of key leaders from the PDP’s North East zonal caucus in Bauchi, aimed at discussing reconciliation and planning for the upcoming 2027 elections.
This crucial meeting was attended by the three PDP governors from the region: Bala Mohammed (Bauchi), Dr. Agbu Kefas (Taraba), and Ahmadu Fintiri (Adamawa). Additionally, members of the PDP Reconciliation Committee, led by former National Secretary Olagunsoye Oyinlola, along with senators and representatives from the state assembly, participated in the discussions regarding the party’s future.
