ST JOHN’S, Antigua – The renowned Monaco Yacht Show once again served as an impressive platform for showcasing the world’s finest yachts, service providers, and brokers, emphasizing the promising future of the yachting industry. Antigua and Barbuda established itself as a premier destination and a significant hub for superyachts.
Leading the charge was the Minister of Tourism, Charles Fernandez, who headed a distinguished delegation to the show in late September. The team provided an in-depth overview of the country’s thriving yachting sector.
The delegation included key figures from the Antigua and Barbuda Tourism Authority and various industry partners, all working collaboratively to enhance the island’s reputation as a top yachting destination. With 117 luxury yachts on display, the event allowed attendees to fully grasp the wealth of offerings from Antigua and Barbuda.
Meetings with prominent charter management companies underscored the allure of Antigua and Barbuda as the Caribbean’s yachting nexus, showcasing its exceptional sailing conditions, secure environment, and comprehensive berthing services. The availability of skilled yachting professionals—including provisioning services and crew training facilities—was highlighted as a significant factor that keeps yachts returning year after year.
Feedback from captains and brokers provided insights into potential improvements, and Minister Fernandez’s commitment to addressing these issues was met with optimism, reinforcing confidence in the government’s dedication to the yachting sector.
Minister Fernandez remarked:
“The success of the event is already resonating, with over 50 yachts confirmed for participation in the upcoming Antigua Charter Yacht Show this December. Brokers at the Monaco show have secured berths at English Harbour and Falmouth Harbour for the upcoming yachting season. It promises to be a bustling season, and Antigua and Barbuda stands ready to welcome all visitors.”
The highlight of the event was the lively Pink Party, featuring a blend of English Harbour Rum, carnival, calypso, and soca music, along with live performances that captured the spirit of Antigua and Barbuda in Monaco.
With vibrant performances and the signature Pink Sands cocktail, the evening left attendees eager to experience the bustling energy of Antigua and Barbuda, reaffirming the islands’ position as a leading choice for yachting enthusiasts worldwide.
