Anthony Joshua has set his sights on a highly anticipated clash with Tyson Fury in 2025, insisting he will continue his boxing career following a devastating defeat to Daniel Dubois in September. The former world heavyweight champion experienced a knockout in the fifth round against Dubois at Wembley Stadium, marking the fourth loss of his career.
Despite this setback, the 35-year-old remains undeterred and is eager for a long-awaited showdown with Fury, who recently lost to Oleksandr Usyk in a closely contested match in Saudi Arabia.
“2025, I am targeting Tyson Fury,” Joshua declared during a recent trip to meet with Nigerian President Bola Tinubu. Reflecting on his loss to Dubois, he expressed his renewed determination: “Makes me hungry, makes me want to work harder. Time is of the essence, time is limited, so I just want to put in more work.”
Joshua is focused on seizing every opportunity that comes his way, stating, “When I look back, I believe I could have done more in 2024. I have another chance in 2025 to do more.”
Looking ahead, Joshua emphasized the importance of resilience in the face of setbacks. “I should have won but I didn’t, and I am going to go again. My life is up and down, so I have to get used to the turbulent times and keep riding the wave. I can’t stop now. I have to keep going until I reach my destination.”
In light of Fury’s recent defeat, discussions surrounding a potential matchup continue to gain momentum. “It’s definitely the only fight for Fury and, other than the Dubois rematch, it’s obviously the only fight for AJ,” noted Joshua’s promoter. “Has there ever been a better time? They’re both coming off defeats, both on the back end of their careers. One in Wembley, one in Riyadh, two fights in 2025.”
