Andrew Tate, a well-known social media influencer notorious for his controversial views, is now embroiled in a new lawsuit filed by an ex-girlfriend who accuses him of sexual assault and battery.
This lawsuit amplifies Tate’s ongoing legal problems as he faces charges of human trafficking and forming a criminal organization aimed at sexually exploiting women in Romania. His brother, Tristan Tate, is also implicated in this case.
The plaintiff, Brianna Stern, claims in her lawsuit that Tate’s abusive behavior is part of a broader pattern of misogyny that characterizes his public persona. She describes how he initially portrayed himself as caring and generous to gain her trust, only to later reveal himself as abusive.
Filed in Los Angeles, the lawsuit recounts a disturbing incident at the Beverly Hills Hotel earlier this month, where Stern alleges that Tate choked and assaulted her, leading to a diagnosis of post-concussion syndrome.
Tate’s legal representative has vehemently denied the allegations, accusing Stern and her attorneys of exploiting the media frenzy surrounding Tate for financial gain. “This is a money grab,” his attorney stated, asserting that the court system is being weaponized against his client.
The Tate brothers, who hold dual citizenship in the U.S. and the U.K., were arrested in Romania in late 2022 and officially charged last year. Andrew Tate faces additional charges of rape, all of which he and his brother deny.
Stern claims she met Tate in July 2024 when he invited her to Romania to promote a cryptocurrency. Initially charmed by his persona, she later found herself in a situation she describes as a nightmare, alleging aggressive and threatening communications from Tate upon her return to the U.S.
In her lawsuit, she details messages from Tate that she perceives as threatening, claiming he once referred to her as his “property” and made violent comments about their relationship.
The attorney for Tate has dismissed these claims, asserting that such messages are manipulated and will not be considered credible in court. “None of it is true. All of it is a lie,” he declared.
Stern alleges that during a recent encounter at the hotel, Tate assaulted her physically while threatening her life if she disobeyed him.
At 38, Tate has built a substantial online following, particularly among young men, despite being banned from multiple social media platforms for espousing hate speech. He is also vocal in his support for specific political figures.
Recently, the Tate brothers adhered to judicial requirements in Romania regarding their ongoing human trafficking case after a travel ban was lifted, enabling them to travel after weeks in the U.S.
Tate continues to assert that there is no evidence against him in Romania and claims that he is the target of a political conspiracy.
Upon their arrival in Florida, the state’s attorney general initiated a criminal investigation into the brothers. Additionally, they face separate lawsuits in the U.K. from four British women after local authorities chose not to prosecute them.
In a statement, Stern expressed her fears regarding the repercussions of coming forward. “I considered many times just silently leaving Andrew and saying nothing… but I can now see that doing so would be the cowardly approach,” she stated.
Her attorney commended her bravery in stepping forward and sharing her story.
